University of the Pacific's Conservatory of Music invites musicians of all ages and levels to participate in Pacific Bass Day. This exciting day-long event brings together double-bassists to learn from distinguished guest artists and Pacific faculty, participate in master classes and clinics, perform alongside fellow double-bassists and connect with other members of the bass community. Whether you are a beginning student, an aspiring music major or an experienced performer, Pacific Bass Day offers a fun and inspiring opportunity to grow as a musician and discover all that the double bass has to offer.

What to expect
  • Explore orchestral preparation and repertoire, contemporary double bass techniques, and approaches to playing jazz and other popular styles.
  • Perform in a bass master class and receive feedback and guidance from experienced faculty and guest artists.
  • Participate in an improvisation workshop designed to build creativity, confidence and musical expression.

Bassist Bowen Ha

Bowen Ha

An accomplished classical double bassist currently serving as a sectional double bassist for the San Francisco Symphony. He is a multiple prize-winner including in the Juilliard Double Bass Concerto Competition, the Tang Rhyme Carnival and the Louisiana Bass Fest.

Bassist Kyle Saelee

Kyle Saelee

A California-based jazz bassist, music educator and a Pacific alumnus, Saelee plays bass for the band Laminated List frequently performing in the Greater Stockton Area.
