Tennis returns to Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center as Pacific hosts fall tournaments
The Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center will once again be the site of high-level competition this fall as Pacific’s women’s and men’s tennis teams host tournaments featuring some of the region’s top programs.
The women’s team will open the season with the Central Invite Clash, a three-day tournament Sept. 25–27 featuring Pacific, Sacramento State, UC Davis and UC Santa Cruz. The round-robin competition includes singles and doubles matches throughout the weekend at Pacific’s 12 courts.
The tournament will provide the Tigers with their first opportunity of the academic year to compete at home and begin putting their work from the offseason into action.
“We are excited to host a fall tournament here with top regional competition. With it being our first competition of the year, it’s a great opportunity to learn and get comfortable on the court,” said Head Coach Mary Beth Gunn. “We always have a fantastic crowd here, and love getting to compete for our community.”
The men’s team will host the Pacific Invite Oct. 30-Nov.1 at the Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center. The field is still being finalized, but the tournament will follow a hidden-dual format, giving the Tigers an opportunity to test themselves against collegiate competition before the ITA Sectional Championships and Conference Masters.
“We’re excited about the opportunity our team has this fall to compete against some of the best programs,” Head Coach Cliff Awuy said. “This tournament will give our guys valuable experience and a chance to continue developing as we prepare for the spring season. We’re especially excited to compete in front of our home fans.”
While neither tournament will count toward team records or postseason play, both will give fans an early opportunity to see Pacific’s tennis teams compete at home and cheer on the Tigers at the Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center. Pacific’s spring tennis schedules will be announced later in the semester.
